Tucson Open Studio Tour 2011

Ghost Ranch Ancestors 18" x 18," on cradled oil panel--Image © 2011 Melinda S. Esparza Tucson Pima Arts Council is again hosting the Open Studio Tour, and it's coming up in just a few weeks. Of course, I'm not ready. I will be, though! We've had some challenges with lighting and with getting the 'ranchette' presentable, but, I think we'll pull it all together in the nick of time. The Tucson Jewish Community Center will be hosting the preview exhibit starting on Wednesday, November 9th. That gives artists and the community a chance to see a sampling of the work in Tucson. I wish all of you could be here. We do have us some fun. I'm still following the trail of images from my New Mexico journey.
In my mind, I'm already there.

This is like candy! Stunning colors that I think are different since your trip to New Mexico. And that foreground! Keeps me coming back around again. I have fuzzy memories of the SW that sort of all blur together. But I know how each place has its very own special qualities. It's great to see your interpretaions!
Tucson's open studio program sounds like such a wonderful commnity event. Lot's of work I'm sure, but so worth it for the artists and those who enjoy art -- and just for the community at large.

Thank you, Don!
I really appreciate the candy reference. Yum. It was fun working with the foreground, very messy.

Maybe you'll want to visit the southwest sometime when we have cool weather. New Mexico was thrilling and it did something to my brain, for sure. I wonder how you would interpret New Mexico and Arizona. While they are in the same region, they feel quite different. Hard to explain. Must experience it.

It is such a big deal to have the open studio tour. How I wish you and all of our favorite bloggers could stop in.

Virtual hugs to you and yours.

Your trail of images is a good journey. You've made jewelry from the tears.

Thank you, Edgar.

Wow. What a poetic way of describing it.

Time for another post for you?

Hi Melinda,
I wish I could be there. I know it would be so much fun. This painting is gorgeous. I love the texture, design, colour and the surprise of blue along the bottom edge. Awesome and then some.

Hello Barbara!
I wish you could be here that weekend too. It would be such a thrill. There would be lots of laughter and paint talk, now wouldn't there? And, it will be nice weather, no blistering heat.

Glad you like this painting. It is kind of different, but New Mexico got me thinking.

Virtual hugs to you and yours!

and now that I've seen your work in person, I can get a sense of the energy that emanates from these pieces - anyone coming to your studio has a treat in store - still processing your work and workspace, xxo

Hello Jeane,
It was such a pleasure having you stop in. Made my month...No, year!

Thank you for your generous words. I really hope everyone feels the same way.

You're welcome back anytime. I'm still waiting on an okay from your friend in Tubac for a post on our time together. I'd love to share a bit about it.

Virtual hugs...Even though sharing a hug in person was waaay cooler!

Thank you, Linny!
Some of that warmth comes from near 100 degree temperature, I'm sure.

It would be beyond wonderful to have you visit the studio tour. Maybe someday, yes? I can dream.

Hello Martha,
I would be honored if you could be here. We would have such fun talking about art, wouldn't we?!

Thank you for your comment. Yes, I agree that this painting looks like cake icing. Hard not to "accidentally" ingest some...

Hello Bridget,

Thank you for coming by and for such a generous comment. I'm so glad you've visited.

I love your work and am in awe of the painting you have as your banner on your blog. Just fabulous, luscious work.

You're welcome here anytime! A world away, but we have art in common. Sometimes, I think that's all there really is.

Holy Moly, Gee whiz Melinda – is it that time of year again!?
Well the good news is – your work is stunningly beautiful!!!! and the only downer from my obviously, selfish point of view is that I'm stuck here in Hamilton and won't be there in Tuscon where all the action will be.

I can only say, sock it to ‘em, break a leg - I'll be thinking of you!!!
